I spent some wonderful times with Dave throughout both my childhood days and in later life. I remember him on one occasion he took Chris, Tim and me to Ebbw Vale swimming baths when we were kids and we took it in turns to ride his back while he was swimming lengths of the pool he was a very strong swimmer.

He always had a great sense of humour and was a brilliant landlord of The Eagle in Crosskeys for over 30 years where we had many a late night, early morning back in the day. Some of the card schools went on until it was light some mornings. I also remember fondly the trips to Langholm in Scotland for the rugby many a great time was spent with our friends from that village.
